Bloodborne

Bloodborne is a brutally challenging Lovecraftian-esque adventure putting you in the shoes of a hunter fighting their way through a cursed town beset by beasts and monstrosities. A beautifully realised and consistent world design backed up by a sublimely chilling soundscape makes for one of the most unique experiences you can get through gaming.

Genre: Third person action adventure

Developer: From Software

Platforms: Playstation 4

Good for: If you’re looking for a real challenge and something you can sink your teeth into

Less good for: Anyone looking for something you don’t have to commit too much time to and anyone who is desperate to avoid nightmares

Summary:

The ‘Souls’ series that Bloodborne is a part of is notorious for being a true challenge and real “gamers’ games”. Bloodborne is a truly difficult game, both in skill requirement and the fact that it is a bit obtuse to fully figure out. Not for the faint of heart and requiring a significant level of stubbornness to get through the early stages, it is all the same an excellent gaming experience and can be truly rewarding. This is one that will keep you thinking about it long after you’ve put it down for the night.
Above, I’ve mentioned that this is one of the most unique experiences you can get at the moment in gaming. That might not be immediately obvious from screenshots, videos or even your very first impressions of the game but you will see just how true it is if you stick with it for more than a couple of hours.
